I have sewn a roman blind for a standard window in my den and would now like to make some type of matching privacy blind for the 8 panel glass door. I would like to make a narrow roman blind to cover the window panes in the door, but don't want to hear the clanking of the wood slats hitting the door every time it is open or closed. Any suggestions for altering a roman blind pattern to anchor it at the bottom of the door.....or perhaps a different type of fabric privacy door treatment?

that's the problem with most window treatments mounted to moving doors - they will rattle or flap around.
if it can be a stationary treatment, what about using the same fabric as the romans, but simply shirring it over rods on top & bottom? they can be cinched in the middle for a slightly more open look. and it's attractive from both sides (front & back).
a pleated shade (single or honeycomb) wouldn't make much, if any, noise when secured with cleats at the bottom. but if you'll be raising & lowering them very often, it'll be a pain to have to unhook them from the bottom.
we have 2" wood blinds on our door out to the deck, and i guess we've just gotten used to all the rattling!

Thanks, Annette. Unfortunately we need the shade to to be mobile. Perhaps I will go ahead with another roman blind and adjust to the rattling.

A hold down bracket for a Roman is unheard of . You will need to find an installer and explain same . Perhaps 2 trips will be needed . An installer will know what bracket to apply looking nicely and painted . Also to funtion easily when attaching and unlocking . Same with any other treatment if you were to switch ...make sure the hold down will project out far enough to clear well of existing treatment .
