Just bought a house built in 1922. The water softener looks just as old. It is a culligan mark 2. Having trouble finding info on it. The house inspection report stated "water softener not in working order" but no further details. There is salt and very little water in the tank. There is also allot of build up (all looks like salt to me) from the tank out to the line at the top. I'm just learning so please bare with me. Do you think it would be worth the time to clean it up and give it a try or just replace it? Or what further info would you need to make that determination? Thanks.
