In wallpapering a wall using 2 differnt wallpapers how far should the top wallpaper go down the wall, also how far should the border print be when using it in the middle of the room?

In my area above and below paper is based on were carpenters put the top edge of a wood chairail or wainscoat as some call it.On 8 ft.ceilings the top edge of wood or paper is at 32 inches.If the base is more than 4 inches wide and/or the border to be used to break the papers is more than 5 inches wide the distance from the floor to the top of the border could move up from 32 to 33 or 34 inches.You want a nice balance between the amount of paper above and below.As an example,if you had 6 inch base and a 6 inch border you would only have 20 or so inches of paper showing below if you start at the 32 inch mark.In that case you would move border up an inch or two and back off and look.On the other hand,a 4 inch base and a 4 inch border may be just right starting the top edge at the 32 inch mark.I use pushpins to pin the paper to the wall before starting so that I or the owner may take a good look.
