I have the Honeywell HE220A
Did I install it right? Humidifier unit on the hot air duct / by pass from cold air duct to unit / Controller on cold air duct
It seems like the hot air is blowing through the unit and right back to the cold air through the by pass duct. Is this the right function of the Humidifier? Also why does the drain tube look like mold have set in? It wasn’t like that at the beginning of the winter season!

The set up is right.. You will get warm air going though the system and back into the return.

As for the mold, how's the water in your area?

Most units say install on the cold air duct. With the by pass pipe comeing out of the hot air duct going to it. Just flush out the drain tube with a little clorox and also look and see you might want to clean the humidifier there.
