Not really sure which forum to ask this question of . . .
In our cafe, :wall: we have just removed industrial carpet to the cement floor underneath. THEN decided not to replace the carpet after all, due to wear issues. We are thinking of taping squares along the whole floor in a tile/slate pattern, then rolling on paint, maybe sponging after to give a sort-of tile look.
HOW do we prep? There is still lots of (appears trowelled on) adhesive clinging to the floor. It rubs off with traffic, so we have gritty stuff underfoot to sweep up every night.
Do we sand? With what?
Use a solvant?
This espresso cafe :coffee: is OPEN. We are only closed from midnight to 7am, so we must plan our work around that. We could sand/strip one night and tape and paint the next.
Any suggestions on paint process to get a tile or slate look (in our time frame!) would also be appreciated.

An electric sander with a pretty coarse paper on it will most likely cut the adhesive off the floor, however you may have a bit of a problem getting the floor painted and having it completely dry and ready for traffic on the floor within your 7 hr time frame. Personally I'd recommend just putting a commercial grade carpet back down. Good luck.
