I have read several post about prog. thermostats on this site. Most say dont use one. I understand why on heat, but what about in the summer with a/c. I have read the explanation about heat, I agree. I set my thermostat on one temp and leave it alone. In the summer, want it save you money to use the setback options?

I guess its how you look at it. On cool to set the tstat up the unit say wont run as much. But then how much did the humidity go up in the home with it off??????? the low humidity in the home is what makes you feel cool the most. Have set homes up down here when not home a humidistat is what run the AC for on and off it saves that way.

I think that using programable thermostats is a good idea because there is a difference in the seasons.
These t'stats save you $$$ because you don't have to think about setting it back.
I installed six of these in a office building, and the owner braggs about these to others, he says that it took 1/3 off his electric bill.

I'm for saving money but I'm more for comfort. If the cooling system is sized & installed properly, most of the time you are better off leaving the thermostat alone.
