My wife wants a piece of furniture in the dining room that we would use to store extra dishes and to
"stage" the hot food when there are a number of people at the table.
I suspect it will also be used to hold up knick knacks off the floor, in order to avoid me stomping on them. :)
I've searched a handful of plan sites but I'm not sure what to even call it.
Sideboard, Buffet, Low Boy, (low boy?) china hutch... WHAT?
Well, not hutch, hutch will probably be added in the future, but for now we'd like to examine the
possibility of building one of these... things, ourselves.
I just need to know that i"m even searching for the correct term.
Thanks.

I believe at one time Norm Abram built a similar sideboard, either on New Yankee Workshop or in one of his books. They usually sell measured drawings on their website, although I haven't been on it in quite a while.
I bought plans for a slant front desk for about $10 and it really was helpful. I adjusted some of the dimensions, but one of the interesting things to me is how everything works together, so when you change one dimension what else is affected? Woodworking is as much about the process as it is the final product.
Good luck.
