Does anyone out there know how to change a deep well pump? I changed one fifteen years ago. The pump sits eighty feet below ground level. The problem is that my pump is only putting out 20 p.s.i. My pressure switch is set at 25 p.s.i. on the low side. I think I have a break(leak) in the pipe or my check valve is bad in my pump. I made up a "T" handle to take the seal out of the casing. I know that I have to pull the cap out and I will be able to pull the pipe out. It is made of black plastic. Is the pipe attatched to the seal? Or is it tied off with the chain?
Thank you.

Hi Wrench,
- you seem to have a pretty good idea of how it all works.
First switch off at the breaker and drain the tank. Now undo marrettes at the wellhead. Your T handle should screw onto the top of the pitless connector about 5 -6 turns. If you have a safety rope attached, get somebody else to hold it as you lift. Wiggle the T handle and pull up, to separate the pitless. Once it comes apart you have the whole weight, but one guy can easily hold pump and 80' of pipe. Pull gently to the top with equal pull on rope and pipe. When you find the break, cut the pipe each side of it and rejoin with a SS double barb fitting and 4 hose clamps.
Go for it, you sound like you and a buddy can handle it easily
