I have a Aqua II that I bought 7 years ago, I sold the house two years later and took the unit with me, it has sat in storage for 5 years while I playboy'd around (single guy then) and now have hooked it up in a new house I just purchased. I find it has been softening my well water which isn't nearly as hard as the water it was originally treating so well but find it isn,t working as well as I remember it. Any sugestions as to what I can look at in terms of fixing it if its even got a problem, I can tell you that it cycles as normal and does suck brine.

Also, I want to install a UV light for my well water, can or should I have that light after the softner as I would prefer because UV lights are happered by iron and would like to take advantage of the little iron that a softner removes.

Sitting so long could have damaged the resin. Pour 3-4 gallons of water into the brine tank and dissolve a 1/3 cup of Iron Out in a gallon of that and then wait at least 2 hrs beofre doing a manual regeneration. Then get a hardness and iron test kit and test the raw and softened water now and after doing that. Then see how it goes.

You should also search for "softener sizing chart" and see how to set up a softener for your water quality and family size.
