Does anyone know how much $$$ I can expect to pay for a service professional to come look at our furnace? The one place I called quoted me at $96 for the first 1/2 hour, and $48 for each additional 1/2 hour (+ the cost of any parts). Is this an average price for service in the northeast?

I think our limit switch just needs adjusting, and I'd hate to give a guy $96 for taking 10 minutes to adjust the limit switch. $50/$60 seems more reasonable to me. Any thoughts?

Why do you think 50-60 more reasonable. Me thinks because thats what YOU want to pay. Try calling your local gas co and see if they make no charge service calls. What I mean by no charge is the cost is built into the rate. Or shop around on the phone.

I am in one of the lowest cost areas around & I get more than $50-60 for a service call. Go 50 miles in any direction (except east, cause you'll be in the ocean) & service rates are $90/hr & UP.

I must be on the low side. :( We get 60 for a service call. If its going to take more than 20 mins to fix it the customer is told how much the job will be.
