I'm about to get going on finishing my basement (about 600 sq.feet of it). I recently heard about this new finishing "system" from Owens Corning. Anyone have any thoughts, experiences, good or bad?

My neighbor had this installed in his basement. It is a very nice looking system. It really didn't go up any faster than drywall, but once it was up, it was done, no messy sanding or painting. It cost a small fortune though.

They gave him a discount if he would allow them to leave the pink panther van out during the install and hold a one day open house to show off the finished basement. They even made him agree to not tell anybody what it cost - he didn't tell me, but he accidentally left the contract on the table when he left the room and I inadvertently saw it.

If you have any specific questions on it, I can ask him.

Yes, I do believe you have to have a Owens Corning contractor install the system. It is not available for the DIY'er.

I like dry wall. Its more economical and you can always paint it when you want a change.
