Hi we have lived in our home for 4 years, we have a well water, for the past 5 days water has been coming out of our well. Our water pressure is fine, my husband thinks its a spring. What should we do? Its just flowing over our walkway and down the driveway.Could it be anything else besides a spring? i need advice! Thanks

You piping might be leaking, power the pump off and wait awhile if the water continues flowing its a spring, if it stops you have a leak.
Best to do this before going out, and you wouldnt be inconvenienced by no water while its off.
If its a leak it will have to be fixed so you dont run out of water
Hi marie83,
- I think an underground spring may have found it's way to your aquifer.
That's an interesting theory Bob has, and his advice is certainly worth testing. But if there was a leak , I believe it would simply circulate in the well.
Unless a recent hydrological survey has taken place, nobody is really aware of what happens to undergound flows.
Make sure (after putting power OFF at the breaker) that the pump wires are NOT marretted in the top of the well casing. If they are , this water will eventually penetrate the tape and marrette and short the circuit, causing the breaker to pop. In cases I have seen like this, the owner has a 1" hose barb welded to the casing near thetop , and fitted a hose to lead the excess water away. This may also involve getting a special well cap designed for this use. Please post back and let us know what happens.
