View Full Version : leaking sewer line inaccessible a way to seal?
I have inherited a septic line with a problem. The original installer used cheap pipe and it is leaking. The water leaks out into our good gravel ground and the sludge cannot move and backs up. We replaced all of the pipe except for the pipe that now lies under a huge deck. Ouch. Is there any way to repair this pipe without removing this deck. Can I put something in that might reseal the pipe? It is going to be ugly if I have to remove this huge new deck to dig up this pipe. Help!
Hi cowdoc,
- IF (and this is a huge IF) you can find a pipe where the OD is approximately the same as the broken pipe's ID and
IF you have sufficient clearance to line up said pipe exactly in line, you MAY be able to slide a new pipe inside the old. -Worth a try.

they have a sock lkie device, its put in the offending pipe, and then pressurized with hot water, left to cure or harden a day or so, but very expensive:(
If its a wood deck how about digging a tunnel under the deck? all expensive hand work or take some of the floor boards off the deck and working around the joists?
I would do just about anything to prevent pulling off this deck. We cannot dig by hand here since it is mostly gravel and very difficult digging. If I could research the sock you were discussing it might be an option. Thanks for the help.
