View Full Version : hot water in cold
we recently had a new hot water tank installed. now when we turn on the cold water, hot water will come out for about a minute before it turns cold. They installed an expansion tank at the same time and I noticed that it is on the hot output about a foot above the tank. could this be causing this problem?

The expansion tank goes between the cold water shutoff valve and the heater. I have enclosed a link with a picture. Scroll down in this post and you will see the installation. Good luck.

Thank you for the information. I am going to move the tank, so will fix this when I do.
