I have a Gas water heater and it has developed a slow drip from the pressure relief pipe. What would cause this? The heater has been replaced in the last 4 years.
The valve is triggered by temperature (200 degrees I think) and pressure (150 psi I think). One of those 2 needs to be present for a good valve to open. If the valve is defective it could leak also but that is somewhat unusual. You need to check pressure and temperature. Sometimes an expansion tank is required to stop thermal expansion from raising pressure too high.
