I am about to replace old basement windows. I was lucky to find exactly the same size as the previous ones, but the edges are slightly different and I was wondering what the best way would be to go about. The previous windows had metal frames and were cemented onto the concrete/cement blocks. The new windows are made of a light metal (aluminum I guess) and the edges are in such a way that it will need to be screwed onto something. I was thinking of putting a wood frame in the opening and fasten it to the concrete with screws and fish plugs. Then to screw the new window onto the wood frame and cover the edges with construction adhesive to ensure isolation. Do you think this might work or do you have any better ideas? Thanks!!
