Dishwasher smells of burning

Hope someone can help! My dishwasher has smelled vaguely of burning lately, but has still washed the dishes fine. Today the smell was really bad, so I stopped it. Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem? I can't see anything obvious.

Hi R_Eyre, and welcome to DIY Forums.
- there may be a number of reasons for your problem . I would start by looking in the pump inlet to see if something is jamming it. Try to rotate impeller, also look around the motor area and the heating element area for burnt or charred wire or loose connectors. Make sure it is unplugged while doing this! :cool:
