I recently bought a 4 month old Servis Fridge/Freezer. All seemed fine in the beginning but now the fridge is too warm and today the Freezer "Critical Temperature warning" lamp has come on. It does seem to cool ok sometimes though. Both thermostats are set high enough and it appaers to make all the right noises i.e. you can hear it switching on and off regularly.
When I collected it I laid it flat on a trailer and was wondering if it may have sustained damage from this.
I would be very greatfull for any advice.

Hi giveitago,
- your problem may come from laying it flat. If you plugged it in without leaving it upright for 24 hours, you may have upset the coolant flow. I'm going to refer you to our compressor expert, SuperMod. GregH

giveitago,

You could check to see if the evaperator cooling coil is iced up.
I'm not familiar with this fridge but if it's a frost free type there will be a cooling coil somewhere within the freezer compartment.
Check to see if you can see any ice that might be blocking the coil.
You may have to remove a cover to get at it.
Also, make sure the fan is working to circulate the air.

I followed your advice, and my evaperator cooling coil was indeed iced up. There were three connectors near the coil, one for the fan and two that went to the coil. One of these was disconnected. Must have worked loose during the move.

So, a very big thanks to you.

All the best
