I have electric heat in my townhome and an annoyingly loud and persistant clicking sound coincides with the starting of the heater. It usually lasts for a minute or two and sounds almost like a relay closing and opening repeatably.
Any thoughts? About to pull my hair out over it.

Its electric heat with a new heat pump outside (5 months ago). The ticking is from the upper half of the furnace in my laundry room. Sounds distinctly like a relay or something. Facing the unit its eye level right where the power comes in. I can take a pic or something. Its just annoying more than anything else and I feel bad for my buddy who rents my basement having to listen to it in the middle of the night.

Yes, it is coming from inside the indoors unit. It is not like the typical ticking sound from an expanding/contracting duct, but a much more mechanical/electrical one. When I get home ill post a pic. Thanks for your help!
