Hello. I have a Ducane (by Lennox) heat pump with a problem. The heat pump has worked fine for almost two months. This morning, the breaker tripped and won't stay on. When the breaker is on (for about 30 seconds), the outside unit tries to start and the fan runs very slow. The unit tries to come on even though the thermostat is in the off position. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be? I do know that on the outside unit, I think around the capaciter, one side is getting 220 amps and the other is getting 110 on one pole and 0 on the other. Thank you.a

Check for a fuse in the outdoor disconnect.

Sound like you have got bad capacitors on the compressor or fan and possibly both. I had this happen on my 3.5 ton Armstrong unit. I changed the capacitors and all is well. :)

try the process of elimination. Disconnect the compressor and see what happens... tape things up to prevent a short. If all runs fine, it might be worth it to try a start booster, and replacing the capacitors,... unless you have an analog meter with an RX10k scale, or a cap testor. This is assuming the compressor is at fault....
