Hi, my hotpoint wash machine does not fill water when ever I start the machine. Intially my wife found the water level control was not working properly, if I set to media load, it fills the water to the extra large load level and if I set it to extra large load, it overflowed and flooded the floor with water. Today it suddenly stops fill in water and washs without water. Could you tell me what part should I look at?

Hi llchen,
- check the water inlet solenoid valve ( where the supply hoses connect). It sounds like this is intermittent. Easy to remove and replace.

Thanks,

I tried to pull-out the small transparent plastic from the water-level switch it started to fill the water but it never stops. I had to turn off the inlet valve. Is that caused by the same defacted solenoid valve? If so, could you tell me how do replace it?

Hi llchen,
- I'm not sure what you mean about a small transparent piece ? The inlet solenoid valve is a unit mounted directly where the supply hoses come onto the washer. The unit consists of two hose couplings, two solenoids with 4 wires going to them and one water outlet to the tub. It's commonly pale blue or white. Usually held on the back of the machine with 2 screws.

I mean the plastic tube connects to the water level switch. I replaced both the valve and the water level switch but no luck. It keeps filling the water not starting to wash, which cost me about $80. But no luck, it keeps filling the water no mater what water level I set and not starting to wash. Any idea what else could be wrong?

Hi llchen,
- unplug it while it's filling. If it stops filling now, then it's a timer problem
