i am considering buying a wagner airless paint sprayer for painting the exterior of my house. does anyone have any experience with these?

If you buy one you may want to use it to get the material on whatever you're painting and then brush it out section by section. If you spray it and leave it you'll end up with "flashing" and an uneven coat, aka " a dog's breakfast". They will save you time for sure!

does this mean that these sprayers do not work well? would they be okay for priming and/or painting under eves and other areas that will not be seen very well?

Yes, you may want to brush it out though. These sprayers work great for small jobs.
