I live in florida with a fairly sandy soil. On mattstone.com they say to just screed some sand and lay the pavers but some people say you need to use gravel too. My patio will be for home use what do you suggest? I dont want any unnessary costs. James

I did some depending on climate
Up north you used gravel do prevent frost lifthing
if i was you i would make path about 6 inches deep and used paver filler (it's like crush cravel dust) for a base about 2 inches from top of ground then used compactor to pack it down then lay your paver on top and used sand to fill the brick gap and used compator on top to settle them down
you will have solid path
