Hi all,
We've reached a point in finishing our basement where (I think) it's time to lay the subfloor. A while back we purchased two large rolls of Delta-FL to prevent moisture and keep it warmer (house is in Minnesota). This level of the basement will consist of 1 bedroom/office, 1 bathroom and a living room. Here's my situation:
Framing, electrical, plumbing, etc are all done and before we sheetrock I would think we should do the flooring which will consist of Delta-FL over the slab. Then in the bedroom and bathroom we'll be using carpet and vinyl flooring, those both require plywood or OSB on top of the Delta. The living room will be hardwood floors which do not require the plywood/OSB.
Should we wait to do the floors until after the drywall is up and leave space at the bottom of the drywall to accommodate the future flooring? Would it be better to do all the flooring first (minus carpet) and somehow protect the hardwood until we're done with the drywall?
Last but not least - if we need to secure the plywood/OSB down, how easy are tapcon screws to use? Will I need any extra equipment than a strong electric drill and a masonry drill bit? I've only used powernailers in the past to secure to concrete.
Thanks everyone!
