I had my compressor checked because the auxiliary heat kept coming on without the heat pump really working,,,,however the freon pressure was way to high causing the compressor to get hot and shut off thus causing auxiliary heat to kick on........
But now,,,,( now I am not totally familiar with a heat pump so this may be normal) but it can be above 50 degrees outside and the temperature be 70 degrees inside and the heat pump will run for a while trying to compensate and get the temperature to it's 1 degree above 70 but if it idles there for awhile the ( Auxiliary Heat will activate to compensate to get it up that 1 degree)
Should this be a normal operation, because I really thought that Auxiliary heat really shoul :wall: :wall: d only activate with a sudden change in thermostat over two degrees or somewhere below 40 degrees because of it having to compesate due to lack of heat in the air according to temperatures decreasing........

Most heat pump tstats will turn on the AUX if it drops 2o below what it is set for Are like can hold the heat at set temp. Is your big copper line hot when the unit is running on heat????
