I just had 2 new staircases installed. They don't look right. Neither one comes all the way over the to the wall on each side. The bottom steps don't meet the carpeting. The top steps don't meet the slate floor below. Also, there is a gap of about 3 inches between the top of the rail and the cut wallboard.

Is this the way the job is supposed to look when it's finished? I knew I would have to replace the molding, but not everything else. If this is right, what am I supposed to do to finish everything?

Please help!

sounds like questions you ought to ask your carpenter.
