I've got a 2000 Maytag Peforma Model number PAV3200AWW that gets off balance and beats the sides and moves. I looked at the sparse parts diagram at Maytag and see there is a spring and bar but I really can't tell where the spring goes or how it connects. I took the cover off the top but don't really know what to do to eliminate the problem. Any suggestions

Hi PMH, and welcome to DIY forums,
- try looking under the tub to see if any springs or damper pads are out of place or broken.

I took the front cover off and all 5 springs are in place. I looked under the tub and didn't see anything but the tub support connnected to the base. Are the dampening pads under the base? In other words do I need to turn the the washer over to inspect the dampening pads or do I need to remove something to get to the dampening pads?
With medium force I am able to push the tub to hit the side. Does this sound normal?

Hi PMH,
the damper pad/s are usually directly beneath the tub and consist of plates with rubber sheet between them. Sometimes these get out of place or too worn to be effective.
