2 weeks ago,my dryer wouldn't start when I pushed the start button. I took off the front to access the belt. The dryer would buzz, but not turn the drum.Eventually,it wouldn't even buzz.Nothing.When I got at the belt,I just pulled on it so the drum would turn. This seemed to work.2 weeks later its doing it again. Is there something that needs to be lubricated,or is the dryer on its way out. It's only 5 years old.

Hi highfargone,
- obviously the motor is having a hard time turning the drum, so my first guess would be to remove the drum and check all bearings and rollers.

Do it Right- do it once.

Thanks nomind,
My initial thought was that it was the motor.Never thought aboutthose. It does seem to me that if it were the motor it would not work at all.Not the case.Sometimes after it sits for a while, and I give the drum a turn by hand it does seem to run again. What would I look for.Visible signs of wear or cracks?

nomind,

I got the drum out and made sure all the rollers were working freely.I made sure I routed the belt properly, and its still doing the same thing. When I start it, it kinda whirrrrs and then it smells like burnt motor.I'm hoping its a motor replacement that is neccessary.Care to shed some light?Thanx :wall:

Heres the deal.I took the drum out to reveal that there doesnt seem to be any bearings. It seems to be completely belt driven.I actually removed, and oiled beneath where one of the roolers sits. This freed it up,as it was kinda sticky. The basic problem is the drum wont turn. The motor still runs, but wont turn the drum.Any solutions?

Check to see if the drum seals are in the right track.
Drum seals are at the ends of the drum that seals to the door and the back of the dryer.

Well,I took it all apart and determined that the motor wouldnt even turn when it had no belt on it.I changed the motor,a 33002478, and not it works like a charm once again. Its even alot quieter.
