I have a base for a three way lamp - has a turn switch and two screws. When I put the base in the brass covering thing (is that called the socket?), the turn switch fits into an opening on the side and directly across, there is another opening which leaves one of the screws exposed. Is this correct or do I have an incorrect part?
Hope this is understandable as I'm new at this and don't know the correct terms for things.
Thanks.

Normally there should have been a cardboard insulator sleeve. Check another one out at your hardware store to see if yours is missing.
