Ruud Reset Button

During the winter months, I often wake up to a cold house, only to find that the outside unit is not running. I reset the button on the outside unit and all is well. My A/M said that I have too much freon. He let some out 3 time but same problem occurs.

What is the cause for the button to have to be reset so often ?

Dirty filter or dirty indoor coil will be the more likely cause. If you don't have this problem in the summer I doubt it has to do with the charge. Pardon my ignorance but what is a "A/M" ?? How did he let refrigerant out?
