Hi..First time here..looks VERY helpful and informative...Hope someone can help with my problem..
I have a Kenmore water softener..I just looked in the salt tank, and it is full of water..What's wrong??

Thee are many causes and most cause insuffient sucktion of the brien water form the salt tank leaving water in it that then has the refill water voulme added to it raising the level in the tank.

The "most likely" explaination for water in the tank is a clogged/worn venturi. If you can view Adobe Reader files, you can download the manuals from Kenmore's site. They explain how to clean it in detail.
And whatever you do, don't overtighten it when you put it back together. I think the manual says "hand tight", it really should be "finger tight".
I assume the tank is just filled to the point where the fill cut-off stopped it. If the tank is filled to the overflow port, then you might have a leak around the valve dripping into the tank.
