I have an Aprilaire 560... I've read the threads about the humidifier location and mine is on the cold air duct... The humidified air has to pass through the air filter before entering the main part of the furnace and going back into the house... I've switched from a course air filter to a finer air filter... could that interfere with humidifier performance?

No, it should not affect anything.. Just as long you have a good pad in the humidifier itself.

WE find best if you dont use over a MERV 5 filter in there. On any of the furnaces. Humidifier dont hurt the filter in any way. Also long as its not one of the nozzle spray in set ups.
