Down here best to check with code on it first.Im in Palm Beach code here now is in the garage. Id kind of go for it when you think about it. I dont like that it makes some runs longer. But to service it is a lot better, less time for the service guy. Also as we have such a long time run on the AC its better. As you dont need the over flow pan up there for a back up. The blower unit is not in the hot hot attic. So there are a lot of ifs ifs for it Code here also calls for a P trap with the overflow cut-off switch in it. Do hav e them but a time delay on the compressor poor electric here. might look into a hot water recovery unit on the AC there .It will give you free hot water and kick up ther seer of the AC. I get about 8 months run on the AC here. look into a power vent fan on a tstat up in the attic also

ED can you tell me where I can get info on these A/C heat recovery units, price and availability?
Trane,
I to like to put equipment where it is easy to service but I question putting a unit in the garage because of the chance of getting bad fumes in the air stream. The best solution for me is a package unit.
Although if you don't have a crarwspace then possibily a closet inside or last resort in the attic space.
