I'm installing hardwood floors so, what are the options for the subfloor? I currently have concrete in the living and dining areas.

Use engineered hardwood and glue it down. It's made for concrete slab installations.

Solid 3/4" hardwood can be installed over concrete above grade (not in basement). You can install polypropylene vapor retarder and 3/4" plywood or OSB or you can use plywood over a sleeper system. Go to www.nofma.org for the National Oak Flooring Manufacturers Association's recommended installation instructions.
