I spent the day (most of it) Sunday, replacing the gas line to my brick fireplace. It had a hole in it beneath the base of the firebox where flame came out around the pipe from the mortar...OK this can't be good.
So I figured I just need to dig down a brick to the first fiitting I can find and re plumb it.....
Yeah, sure,...well 4 hours of digging later I found the fitting..18" and 5 layers of brick and mortar down... ....sheesh!
OK, everything is re-piped, and re-mortared/bricked, (yes I checked all the fittings for leaks first). Now I am ready to cut slots, or drill holes in my 10" horizontal line that sits 1 1/2 inches above the base of the fire box.
My question is...slots or holes?
is one method better than the other??
Thanks
David
