Can the width of a "plank" of laminated flooring make a room seem larger? If so, would wider or narrower be preferred.

I've heard if you have a small bathroom and want to make it appear larger you should use large tiles. Based on that I think wider planks would make the room look larger.

larger tiles create a visually larger space because there are fewer grout lines, therefore a less busy "grid pattern".
this does not hold true so much with wood flooring, because whether the planks are large or small, there aren't really many "lines" happening. so it really isn't as much of an issue. go with what you like. i think wider planks look very "country", whereas skinnier planks seem more traditional and formal (ie normal).
however, a long narrow room can be made to look wider, by running the planks (any size) across the room, instead of parallel with the long wall.
