My stairs in my living room are open (No Riser) I need to know how to carpet them.
How much of the step do I put padding on?
Do I need a kicker?

Of coarse the top, but wrap it over the lip on the front, too.

Do I need to use a kicker? (remember no riser, each stair gets wrapped all the way around)
Should I pad all the way to each side of stair or leave a space.

A kicker is a helpful tool no matter what your doing with carpet.
If your going to do it that way, tack strip the sides to hold a side stretch on the carpet.
