My DSC 632 PC1555MX is configured to call my cell phone using the Pager feature. It works great! When ever I receive a call from my home I know there has been an alarm activation. Attempting to enhance things a bit, has anyone configured the alarm panel to send “reporting codes” as text messages?

Thanks

Yes, you have to use a service like NumericPage.com - it will take a page and turn it into a text message sent to your cell phone.

I've personally used it for my alarm system and it works great. Plus it's only $20/year for a subscription.

Good luck!

Thanks for the extremely fast response. No sooner did I send my post and you were there to answer! Not bad!

Thanks for the information regarding the service that will provide text messages. However, do you (or anyone else) know any tricks on the dialing string that will provide some type of text message that I will understand? I would rather not have another bill (although small) to contend with.

Thanks!

Nope - alarms are setup for paging, cell phones are not. You have to have a way to get from paging format to text message - unless your provider has a special way of doing this, I don't know of a way to do it.

Good luck!
