We just bought our home. We never had a chance to test the alarm. ( no code) I had to reset the panel. Right after I did that the trouble #1 came on. I replaced the battery, but light is still on. I used hard wire to reset the panel, but no sucess. Manual doesn't say much.

Please help! what should I do?

You probably have one of several problems:

1) The battery was never charged to begin with - if is wasn't plugged in, or the power was disconnected from the panel, etc.
2) You may have a bad fuse - check the Battery fuse
3) Your panel may not be fully charging the battery - check the charging voltage on the battery leads with a voltmeter

It takes a while for the battery to fully charge - give it about 8-12 hours for full charge.

Good luck!

Thank you for your adivce. I checked the fuses there were three of them. I don't know which one is for the battery but all three are okay. I think the charging is fine too. Any other suggestion?

The manual says "... the battery is discounected or the battery PTC is open." do you know what PTC means?

I have to say before I reset the panel nothing was wrong with it. Or at least no trouble lights were on. I reset it because we didn"t have the code.

It was always plunged even thought the previous owner didn't have the code either.

Last thing, the new battery is connected for more than 24hrs.

Thanks!

A PTC is a Positive Temperature Coefficient, or basically, a fuse (PTCs replaced fuses in the DSC panels.)

If you have fuses, you don't have PTCs and vice versa.

The other possibility is simply that you have a bad board - not unlikely with a DSC 1500/1550 series.

did you try powering down the system, connecting the battery first, then turning on AC power. Sometimes a battery fault will not clear unless powered down. Also check that you have programmed system time. Good luck!
