Yes I have a room in the basement and it has heating ducts in it but it does not stay warm unless we use our baseboard heater, because the thermostat is upstairs. Problem we had a 4 foot electric baseboard heater that on the tag it said 1000/750 watt and was a 240 volt. I built a closet were the heater was and were I was going to move heater it was to small to put a 4 foot heater so I bought a 3 foot 750 watt, this heater will not keep the room warm. The old heater you only had to put thermostat on half no matter how cold it was and it kept room warm. With the new one all the way up it won;t get room over 68. Is it just heater is to small for room, or could it be the wall mount thermostat. The room is about 16 by 16. Thanks for any help

Lets go this way /You say the old heater said 750 watts at 240V and the new heater said 750watts at 240V then the heat out put is the same. So next its up to the tstat and see if it stays on to get the heat up, Id say

This is certainly a shot in the dark but are you sure you are getting 240 volts to the heater?

I just bought a two family and am learning on the job. Tenants have electric baseboard 240v and the thermostats aren't working well. The place stays around 72 when the thermostat reads 60. Their January heating bill was $390. I would like to put in a programmable thermostat for them and see if we can save them money but there seem to be very few 240v baseboard heater programmable thermostats on the markets. In fact I have only found one on the web from honeywell but I can't seem to find a place that sell them. Any suggestions for finding more or how to find them? Thanks

You might want to try an electrical suppy house. I don't mean Home Depot, Lowes, or Menard's but a real supply house. If they have one, they might be able to order one for you.

On the data plate does it something like this
1000/750 Watts
230/208 Volts AC
If this is the case than the heater is rated for 1000 watts at 230 volts and 750 watts at 208 volts.
Some equipment is rated like this.
