We've just started a new business and we need to know when someone comes in the front door. The previous tenants had an ADT alarm system installed and there is a "Security Manager 3000" on the wall next to the door. I don't know if it still works or any codes but I'm going to try some of the suggestions I've already read in the forum.

My question is this (taking for granted that everything works):

Can I use this (in chime mode) to do the job and if so, is there a way to add an external chime to put in an area approx. 40 ft from the "Security Manager 3000" on the other side of a wall?

Thanks for any help!

B.

I can't find any info on the Security Manager system, but from what I remember this is ADTs new system - the one that arms the system automatically when you lock the door (using a simple key switch sensor - btw, any panel can do that.)

Anyway, like I say, I don't know much about that particular system, as it doesn't seem to be based on another system (or at least a popular one) so I don't know if it supports X-10 or if maybe it has siren outputs you could connect to. I seriously doubt it - it may support X-10, but that's a stretch. If so, you could put in an X-10 power siren as a chime.

I would say you would be better off just disconnecting the SM system and get a simple door chime module online or at Radio Shack, Home Depot, etc.

Good luck!
