We want to install recessed lighting in our living room. Is there any advantage or disadvantage to using 12 Volt recessed lighting?

I don't see any advantage to low voltage lighting unless the fixture you fall in love with is only available in low voltage. There are a wider range of very small fixtures available in low voltage, but almost everything else about low voltage is a disadvantage.
