what are the pro's n cons of using metal studs.

I have seen them used in the tv show IN a Fix frequently, whats the deal with them?

For me, they transmit cold. Other then that, I use both wood and steel.

yeah the metal will transmit more temperature variance and sound as well. Nice thing about metal studs is you don't have to look thru the pile for a straight one, speeds up the bldg process. Price wise these days steel is a tad higher than wood

metal studs are a whole different set of tools.

1. chop saw with a metal blade
2. drill or screwgun in place of a hammer or nailgun
3. tin snips
4. screws in place of nails
5. ramset or hilti gun for fastening the plate
6. special gromets for wire and pipe

different rules to framing openings, headers, and mounting boxes
don't be fooled by the old saying that metal stud walls are straight.......they aren't.

unless you have lots of walls to do.......stay with wood.
