I need to buy some carpet for the basement, and have decided
that the best deal going are from stores in Dalton, Georgia, considering
I need about 100 sqyd of 100% nylon plush delivered....

any recommendations of which stores are most reputable, etc?

You may save a few bucks on the initial purchase, however you sacrafice alot in customer support, warrantee, etc. I would direct you to a full service carpet dealer.

I agree with buying your carpet locally, but you don't really need the installers they have to install it. Sometimes that is the big mistake. Find a good installer yourself that you get to interview, by going to CFIinstallers.com and in the left pane, type in your zipcode and click, find an installer.

Look for the R-II and Master installers in your area, as R-I installers, have yet to prove they can do it on their own. Apprentice level, basically.
You won't be dissatisfied, I guaranty.

I've gone to CFI, but after calling over a dozen of
them in the area, none have returned my calls, except
one, and he works for a local company and only
installs for them :(

kinda stuck there..

finding your own installer can have advantages like saving money and getting a good install.
it can have dissadvantages too, like you have more liability, and the installer may move away, or do a lousy job (maybe)

store installer can have advantages like life of the carpet warranty in which the store most likely will be around for the entire warranty for restretch and such. Plus there is less liability.
the dissadvantages would happen if you find a lousy store, such as bad service and untimely responses. and you will pay a store installer more. but actually you are paying the store more for the insurance.......

good and bad can happen with both.
But as far as purchasing the carpet, stick local. your economy will thank you for the few extra bucks.
