Innerlace shingles. HELP!

I asked my boyfriend to turn up the temp on our water heater recently because I felt like our hot water could be a little hotter. As soon as he turned up the temp - water began to pour out of the outflow valve. Is that normal - what caused that? Should he hook up a hose before he turns up the temp? He finally got a hose hooked up to it but not before it flooded our storage closet and soaked into one our bedrooms. My dad always adjusted the temp on our water heater at home and we never experienced this.

OKAY, Heres the deal! This summer we are going to put a new roof on our house. We have a valley at the front and don't know how to inner lace the shingles at the valley. Somebody please explain how to do this so I won't have to hire a roofer.

Now that most shingles are multi-layer and deminsional, woven valleys are rare. The new shingles are so thick that they "telegraph" through a woven valley and look "bumpy". Most guys (including myself) use a "California Cut". Read the back of sa hingle bundle wrapper for instructions on all of these valley types. Woven valleys require that you install shingles on both sides of the valley at the same time.

Those guys just copy us anyway...
I have been doing "closed valleys" since the early 80's in TEXAS.

Be tricky and do a "No Cut" valley....... :D

Is a "no-cut" valley where you place the color edge of a shingle lined up with the valley and run the courses into this angled shingle?

If you going to take the time and do it your self Id do it right and It wont take as long are hard. Go to any sheet metal shop and get a 24" storm valley made out of Gal sheets for on the roof there . This way you just trim the shingles as they lay over the valley metal.

Good idea. Some distributors will call it 24" "w" metal.
