Lighting, Light Fixtures, Ceiling and Exhaust Fans - Discolored trim for recessed lighting fixture

Due to lamp heat over the course of several years, the trim in my recessed lighting fixtures has turned from off-white to an ugly nicotine-orange. My options are to either replace the trim at nearly $10 per fixture or to find some recommended method for restoring the existing trim to the desired color.

For cleaning, neither soap-n-water nor spray-on oven cleaner has had any effect on the discoloration.

I could spray-paint the trim with the desired color, but I have 2 questions:
- Should I be painting this sort of item?
- Is a specific type of paint required for this application?

I would appreciate any recommendations.

You might try posting this over in the painting forum, but I would think any heat-resistant paint would do. I know that they sell this paint in black (mainly for BBQ grills), but I'm not sure about other colors.

Engine paint is available in other colors. I would imagine white is one of them.
