Installing laminate on a staircase is both expensive and difficult for a DIY job.
It really depends on what type of stairs your are going to work on. You'll want to describe the type of stairs on your posting, so everyone will have a better idea of what you are attempting.

I found the stairs to be a very good exercise in thinking and head scratching, but at the end it turned out very good.
It was quite expensive compared to the rest of the room I did.
But, it was well worth the time and effort.
good Luck

In my optinion I would not bother, I am about to laminate floor my living room, but the stairs I am just going to buy oak planks for. By the time you add up all of the laminate edging for the steps you can buy the planks.....
but you need to be a bit crafty with carpentry. I am not sure it is less work either but the steps always take a beeting and will wear faster......
