Hot water takes a while to get from our basement up to our master bedroom on the 2nd floor. I am considering getting one of the pumps advertised. I found one called the Chilipepper. "The Chilipepper is a small powerful micro-processor controlled pump that installs under your sink.

When you push the start button, the Chilipepper pumps the water in a big loop from the water heater through the hot water piping to the Chilipepper, and on through the cold water piping back to the water heater inlet, a big loop.

When the electronic control circuitry detects an increase in the water temperature inside the pump, it shuts the pump off. The shut-off sensitivity is adjustable with a knob on the front of the Chilipepper."

Does anyone know anything about it? Or have any other recommendations?
Thanks.

I have never heard of or had any experience with that brand. I have used the Metlund system and recommend it (link below). The Metlund is is at least twice as expensive as the Chilipepper, but it appears to have much better construction (brass vs. plastic). The old saying you get what you pay for, may apply here.

Perhaps someone on this board will be able to give you opinions on their experience with the Chilipepper.

I looked at the Metlund site, through the link you provided. (Thank you). I was not sure, but does the Metlund stay on all the time or in other words does it work by keeping the temperature in the hot water lines at a constant? I liked the feature of the Chilipepper that you pushed a button when you wanted the hot water because it is a large house and my husband travels half the month and the kids are not here, so it would be a waste to keep the water hot just for me.

The Metlund System does not stay on all the time. It delivers hot water only when you want it. You can turn it on several ways. The most common is a push button but it can also be activated by a remote control, a motion sensor or even when a door is opened.
