We have a ceiling florescent light with a pull string switch. The pull string came off yesterday. I unscrewed the metal cap that the string came through but did not take the fixture off the ceiling. I could not see how to reattach the string. I have not found any diagrams of how the switch string is attached inside the fixture. Is it likely that the string can be reattached when the fixture is removed from the ceiling?
