My home was built in 2000. Last week, I had a service tech come out because my auxiliary heat was not working (aux light stayed on constantly, but system blew cool air. The heat pump itself was working as hard as it could, but couldn't quite keep up). I was told that the sequencer was stuck open. The tech "broke loose the contacts and rewired sequencer". The system worked fine for a week.
Now, my heat pump does not want to turn off. It was set at 70, but was up to 76 yesterday and still going strong, so I turned the whole system off at about 6PM. The fan has now been blowing for 18+ hours, and somehow, despite freezing temperatures outside, the inside temp is still at 75, and the air out of the vents is toasty.
Something is not right!!
I am loathe to call out the service guy again until I have a better understanding of what's going on. (I don't want to be taken for a ride on the repairs.) Can this problem be related to the original one? Not to whine, but I can't afford a series of repair bills.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
